Vehicle Inspection
A vehicle inspection is the walk-around check of the car’s condition, done at pickup and again at return. Existing scratches, dents and chips are noted on a damage diagram or in the app, so there is a clear record of how the car looked before you drove it.
It is your most important protection against unfair charges. Anything not marked at pickup can be blamed on you at return, so the few minutes spent checking the bodywork, wheels, glass and interior are minutes very well spent.
Do it actively rather than letting it be rushed. Walk around the whole car, look underneath the bumpers, check the windscreen, and make sure every mark you find is recorded before you sign. Photograph or film it yourself with a timestamp as backup.
Repeat the process at return. Ideally have the car inspected and acknowledged while you are there, so any disagreement is settled face to face rather than appearing as a surprise charge on your card days later.
