Roadside Assistance
Roadside assistance is the phone number that turns a breakdown from a crisis into an inconvenience. Call it and the rental company arranges help for a flat tyre, a flat battery, keys locked inside, running out of fuel, or a tow when the car simply will not go.
Many agencies include basic assistance for genuine mechanical faults at no extra charge — if the car breaks because of a fault that is not your doing, getting you moving again is their problem. What is often chargeable is a call-out caused by the driver: a kerbed tyre, a lost key, the wrong fuel in the tank.
On a Moroccan road trip this matters more than in a city. Distances between towns can be long, and a problem on a quiet road to the desert or the mountains is far less stressful when you know help is one call away.
Save the assistance number in your phone before you set off, and note the car’s location and registration so the operator can reach you quickly.
