Push-Button Start
Push-button start lets you start the engine by pressing a Start/Stop button rather than inserting and turning a key. As long as the fob is inside the car, the system recognises it and lets you start with your foot on the brake (or clutch) and a press of the button.
It pairs naturally with keyless entry, and together they mean the key can stay in your pocket the whole time. To switch off, you press the same button once you are parked, usually in neutral or park.
For a renter the only learning curve is the first start. If the engine will not fire, the usual reasons are simple: your foot is not on the brake or clutch, the car is not in the right gear, or the fob battery is low — hold the fob near the button and try again.
It is worth a ten-second demonstration at pickup if the car is new to you, just so the first start in a car park is smooth rather than a puzzle. After that it quickly becomes second nature.
