Local Driving Permit
A local driving permit is a licence issued by the country you are renting in. For short-term visitors, a home licence — with an International Driving Permit if needed — is almost always enough, so this term matters most to people who live in the country rather than tourists.
The distinction usually turns on residency. Once you become a resident, many countries expect you to convert to or obtain a local licence within a set period, and a foreign licence alone may no longer be accepted for renting or driving.
For a typical holiday in Morocco you will not need a local permit; your valid home licence is the document that counts. The idea is worth knowing mainly so you understand what "local permit required" means if you ever see it on a long-stay rental.
If you are moving to the country or staying for an extended period, check the local rules on converting your licence, because the visitor-friendly arrangement does not last indefinitely.
