Infotainment System
The infotainment system is the central screen and software that bundles together a car’s information and entertainment functions — navigation, radio and media, phone connection, and often climate and vehicle settings — into one touchscreen interface.
It is the hub you interact with most after the wheel and pedals. Through it you set the navigation, connect your phone, pick music, and adjust how the car behaves, usually by touch, sometimes with a dial or voice control as well.
Systems differ a lot between cars, which is exactly why a rental can feel unfamiliar at first. Spending a minute before you drive to find the basics — volume, the map, the phone connection, the demister — saves fiddling with the screen while moving.
Keep interaction with it to a minimum on the move; a touchscreen can be as distracting as a phone. Set your destination and audio before you set off, lean on CarPlay or Android Auto if available, and use voice or steering-wheel buttons for changes while driving.
