Rental Day
A rental day is a 24-hour period that begins the moment you take the car, not at midnight. Pick the car up at 3 pm and each rental day runs to 3 pm the next day. This is the building block the whole price is made of.
It matters because it explains how returns are judged. Bring the car back at 5 pm on the final day and you have crept into a new 24-hour block, which is why even a couple of hours late can read as an extra day on the bill.
Knowing this helps you book smart. If your flight home is in the evening, a pickup earlier in the day on arrival can quietly cost you, because the clock you start on the way in is the clock you must beat on the way out.
Line up your pickup and drop-off times against your real itinerary, and the day count stays exactly what you paid for.
