Air Conditioning (A/C)
Air conditioning cools and dries the air in the cabin, keeping the inside comfortable however hot it is outside. On a hot day it is the difference between a pleasant journey and an exhausting one, and it also clears a fogged windscreen quickly.
In Morocco it moves from luxury to near-necessity. Summers in Marrakech, the south and the interior get genuinely hot, and a long drive without working A/C in that heat is draining and can be unsafe if it leaves the driver tired and distracted.
It is in the ACRISS code for a reason: the last letter of a car’s code indicates whether air conditioning is included. When booking in a hot-climate country, confirming the car has A/C is a basic but important check.
A practical note: running the A/C does use a little extra fuel, but in Moroccan heat that is a small price for comfort and alertness. At pickup, it is worth a quick test that the cold air actually blows cold before you drive off.
